Build Your Career in Residential Electrical Project Management

Adams, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly organized Assistant Project Manager to join our Residential Electrical Team.

This position supports the planning, coordination, and execution of residential electrical projects from kickoff through completion. Working closely with our Project Manager, electricians, field leadership, builders, homeowners, suppliers, and inspectors, the Assistant Project Manager helps ensure schedules, materials, permits, inspections, project documentation, costs, and outstanding issues are properly coordinated.

This is not an entry-level construction position. Candidates must have demonstrated work experience in the residential electrical field and a practical understanding of residential electrical systems, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and electrical blueprints and plans.

We're looking for someone who can combine that electrical knowledge with strong organization, communication, technology skills, and follow-through to help keep multiple projects moving in the right direction.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the Project Manager with residential electrical projects from kickoff through final completion.
  • Maintain project schedules, milestone dates, task lists, and outstanding follow-up items.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, deliveries, permits, inspections, and project documentation.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, plans, specifications, schedules, and scope documents.
  • Apply practical knowledge of residential electrical installations and NEC requirements when reviewing and coordinating project information.
  • Identify discrepancies, missing information, scope questions, and potential project issues and work with the appropriate parties to obtain answers.
  • Prepare and organize purchase orders, change-order documentation, project correspondence, and closeout information.
  • Track project costs, labor hours, materials, change orders, and budget information.
  • Communicate regularly with builders, homeowners, vendors, suppliers, inspectors, sales representatives, electricians, and field leadership.
  • Support electricians and field leaders by helping ensure they have current project information, plans, materials, and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project information and documentation in ServiceTitan and other company systems.
  • Assist with jobsite visits to monitor progress, verify information, and track outstanding items.
  • Coordinate permit and inspection activity and help resolve scheduling or documentation issues.
  • Proactively follow up with internal and external contacts to obtain information needed to keep projects moving.
  • Identify potential problems, delays, or customer concerns and escalate them to the Project Manager when appropriate.
  • Support project closeout, including punch-list items, final inspections, documentation, and record organization.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and project requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated work experience in the residential electrical field is required.
  • Practical knowledge of residential electrical systems, installation methods, materials, and construction practices is required.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application to residential electrical construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, plans, specifications, schedules, and other construction documents.
  • 2+ years of residential electrical construction, electrical project coordination, project support, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating project schedules, materials, purchase orders, permits, inspections, documentation, or customer/contractor communication.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects, priorities, deadlines, and outstanding items.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to recognize missing or conflicting information and proactively determine who to contact to obtain what is needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with builders, homeowners, electricians, field leaders, vendors, suppliers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with technology and learning new software applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with ServiceTitan or other construction/project management software is preferred but not required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Electrical trade education, apprenticeship experience, or a Wisconsin electrical credential is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
What Will Make You Successful

Successful candidates will understand how residential electrical work gets done in the field but will also be comfortable spending a significant portion of their time coordinating the details behind the work.

We're looking for someone who doesn't wait for information to come to them. You'll need to be comfortable asking questions, tracking down missing information, following up with multiple people, keeping detailed records, and identifying issues before they affect the schedule or customer.

You should also be comfortable learning new technology. ServiceTitan experience is helpful, but it is not required. We're more interested in finding someone who has successfully used software and technology to manage schedules, documentation, projects, customers, or workflow and who can quickly learn a new system.

Compensation

$65,000 - $85,000 annually

Compensation will be based on residential electrical experience, NEC and blueprint knowledge, project coordination experience, qualifications, and the ability to successfully support multiple active projects.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
